The Graduate Certificate in Leadership (Korean) is a short, focused qualification for people who want to lead well in Korean-speaking church, ministry and community settings. It runs 26 weeks full time and is delivered in Korean. You study leadership as it is actually practised: how to read a group, make decisions under pressure, handle conflict, supervise volunteers, teach and preach, and keep a team moving when resources are thin. Expect units on leadership theory and practice, organisational and team dynamics, ethics and accountability, and the shape of Christian ministry and mission. Assessment is usually a mix of written work, case studies, reflective journals and practical projects rather than exams alone.
As a graduate certificate, this is an AQF Level 8 qualification, one step above a bachelor degree and the same level as an honours year or a graduate diploma. It typically carries around 24 credit points across four units of study, delivered over one semester or two shorter teaching periods depending on how the college timetables it. That is half a master's degree, and many students use it as a stepping stone into a Master of Leadership, Ministry or Divinity, with credit for the units already completed. Because it is short, it suits people who need a recognised credential quickly, or who want to test whether further study is for them before committing to a longer degree.
You can expect work-integrated learning in some form, a supervised ministry or leadership placement, a practicum in a congregation or community organisation, or a project where you apply what you are learning in your own context. That is normal in ministry and theology qualifications in Australia, and it is where most of the learning happens. The skills you finish with are practical: planning and running a ministry or program, communicating clearly to a group, giving and receiving feedback, managing a budget or a roster, and thinking theologically about the decisions you make. Teaching is in Korean, so you need fluency in that language; English proficiency requirements still apply for admission and for the Student visa.
This course suits Korean-speaking pastors, lay leaders, missionaries, chaplains and community workers who already have a bachelor degree or equivalent, and who want formal leadership training without stepping away for two or three years. It also suits people changing direction into ministry who need a qualification that fits around work and family. If you are unsure whether your prior study counts, or how the 26 weeks is broken into study periods, check with the institution directly. Fees, intake dates and the exact unit list are published on the CRICOS register and the college's own page, confirm them there before you apply.
These roles sit across religious organisations, Korean-Australian community groups, not-for-profits, schools, hospitals and aged care providers. Some employers, particularly in chaplaincy and denominational ministry, will expect you to meet their own accreditation or endorsement requirements, check with the relevant body. Graduates who complete this qualification may be eligible for the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) post-study work stream, provided they meet the Department of Home Affairs criteria, including the Australian study requirement. While studying, a Student visa generally allows up to 48 hours of work per fortnight during term. Confirm your visa conditions and any accreditation requirements before enrolling.
It typically takes 26 weeks, with intakes in Semester 1 (Feb/Mar), Semester 2 (Jul).
Tuition is around A$10,500 total. Fees change yearly, confirm with an advisor.
